Venice Foo, also known as Chau Xhien is a multidisciplinary artist based in North Borneo. She has been actively joining exhibitions and community art projects since 2015. Starting as a muralist, she then experimented with different types of creative practices throughout the years such as crochet, embroidery, beading and weaving.
Beyond textiles, Venice is also a tattoo artist (foo.ink) specialising in free-hand ornamental designs, working exclusively with the hand-poke method. Her approach to tattoing is intuitive and organic, allowing each piece to flow naturally with the body’s form, much like the dynamic and fluid nature of her textile work.
For Venice, she embraces the labour of traditional craft by creating entirely without machine - treating time itself as a central material, an equal currency shared by all.
